Fathers Day 2009 at Cotton Tree Park

On Sunday 6th September Fathers Day, members of our Club headed to Cotton Tree (Maroochydore) for the Lifeline DOING DAD'S PROUD DAY.

This year the theme was BIG BOY'S TOYS and we parked around 8 a.m. and enjoyed attracting the crowds all shapes and sizes and all age groups.

8 & 10 HP Sidevalve: Little fords at the Club Grounds

It was an amazing response from some members to help us out with the Ford Run.  Donna and Willy made the day a part of their holiday north from Brisbane, with Darryl, Barty, Lenny and Mrs Spickett (aka Denise) joining Patrick, Jane, Alan, Dave, Leanne and Michael after the Kin Kin run - all to help Joanne and Rob prepare for the day.

These same members also helped out providing some of the morning tea delights while the Ford drivers also had steak sandwiches supplied.

Rob turned up early in his Popular and nervously drank his coffee, happy that there was the club support for the run given the fact that it was his idea to hold part of the event in Cooroy.

Classics on the Coast

We decided to take the panel van for a run up to Rockhampton to the Classics by the Coast car show.  We liked the idea of a car show without judging and only a few People’s Choice prizes.  We left from Gympie at 3pm and drove up to Gin Gin for our first night.  We had more gear in the back of the van than we took for our 17 months around Australia, and we were staying in motels and cabins.

This was the first real run since putting the Triple carby’s on and I was hoping that the economy would still be as good as it was.  It was a vain hope as we lost about 4 MPG.  Looks like another tune up is on the cards.

Breakfast in the Park

It was a different approach to the usual car run this month, with members invited to attend a BYO breakfast in the park down at Noosaville by the Big Pelican, and along the river. It was held the same time as the Million Paws walk giving the day something extra as every breed you could imagine were attached to a lead and mingling.  The weather  was also warmer than we thought it might be with the sun shining brightly.

Kin Kin

It was a great turn out to Kin Kin this month with 7 cars turning up from the club, including the Monty’s, Ian Bruggy and Ashley Scott who has been working at Hervey Bay lately joining Dave, Leanne and Alan.  Patrick and Jane also popped in.

Other than Michael being thrown off the train for poor behaviour it was an excellent day with free horse and carriage rides and numerous stalls for people to visit.
